Ernie LiCalsi's trial and decision making experience as District Attorney, his experience as a college professor, and his community involvement, make him the best candidate to serve as Madera County's next Superior Court Judge. His decisions will not be made in a vacuum. His decisions will be made with knowledge and experience of the law and of this community. TOUGH ON CRIME As District Attorney for the past 16 years, Ernie has proven himself to be tough on violent crime, graffiti vandalism, and agriculture theft. He has earned your trust and support. Ernie helped change California's laws to make it tougher on those who commit graffiti vandalism. Ernie, along with Madera Sheriff John Anderson, persuaded the Madera County Board of Supervisors to form Madera County's first Gang Task Force. Alternate Programs Ernie recognized that for some, especially the youth, there is still hope to turn their lives around. That is why he helped lead the fight to establish Madera's Juvenile Boot Camp. He is also President of the New Hope Madera, a local non-profit gang prevention organization that he helped found. New Hope Madera takes gang members off of the streets and assists them in becoming law abiding, employed, and productive members of the Madera County. COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT Ernie is the only candidate for judge that has served Madera County as Little League President, Service Club Member, New Hope Madera President, Ronald McDonald House Board President, and High School Mock Trial Coach, to name a few. EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION Ernie LiCalsi graduated from Hastings College of Law, a nationally ranked law school. He has been a trial attorney for over 22 years. In addition, he has also taught night law classes at the California State University, Fresno.
